Dear Sirs,
I have seen your letter dated 18th inst., regarding a reconditioned Oil Cooler F.185 on which the Unions Seating Face is defective.
I wish to confirm our telephonic conversation today regarding this matter in which it was pointed out that the question of the remachining of the union face on the reconditioned coolers might cause the thickness of the pressing to become thin. It was felt, however, that as the unions are solidly brazed to the pressing this point was not likely to cause trouble.
In view of your remarks, however, on the cooler F.185, we have arranged to gauge the coolers in future by means of a plate gauge which locates on the top machine face and which registers the required dimension of .084" to the shoulder of the pressing.
We understand on the telephone that you have now received the Bentley III Matrix with the bottom tank dipped on and we are glad to know it is satisfactory.
We also confirm receipt under cover of your letter of the 18th inst., of Drawing E.B.3661 of the Grille Stiffener Detail of the Bentley II and Bentley III Dummy Shutter Sets. This detail brings this stiffener in line for both types.
The writer would be pleased to see you on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week in order to discuss and go through the sample Car Heater and also to arrange for the bottom tank to be dipped to your other matrices. It will also be possible for you to see the tools for producing the dummy shutter vanes during your visit. Perhaps you will be good enough to confirm which day we can expect you.
Yours faithfully,
FOR JOHN MARSTON, LIMITED.
