605 To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.4/MH.{M. Huckerby}19.11.37. UNDERSHIELDS FOR 28.G.VI, 20.G.VI AND O PRODUCTION WRAITH CARS. In order that the O production cars can be fitted with undershields, we wish to make up a model shield to which production can work. The existing set of shields which we have suffers from various defects, chief of which is lack of ground clear ance. We think these faults can be corrected. Will you therefore, please make up as soon as possible a shield to fit 28.G.VI car, which represents as near as possible what the six production Wraiths will be - i.e. it has correct engine mounting, front cross-member etc. We will arrange for this car to be available for this purpose on the ramp in the garage to-morrow morning. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. will indicate verbally exactly what is required. We shall not fit any gear-box under-pan to this car as it has not the final gear box mounting. 20.G.VI car will require a similar engine shield to 28.G.VI except that it will have to suit the new cross-member which goes with the high engine mounting, being fitted to 20.G.VI. On the car which will have the correct gear box mounting, we will indicate what shielding is required for the gear box. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. | ||
