To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to DY.{F R Danby} ----------------- ROY{Sir Henry Royce}3/MG1.2.32 ----------------- Harrison type Film Radiator Blocks Further to ROY{Sir Henry Royce}2/MG27.1.32 re above, attached is a sample piece of strip as used for the manufacture of the block, together with a piece of crimped strip, which shows the construction in detail. I asked for information as to the repair of such leaky blocks, and Messrs. Marston advise that these fall under two headings: (a) Failure of soldered joints (b) Failure of strip In the first case the repair is effected by means of a soldering iron on the surface of the block. In the case of the second, which is very uncommon owing to the detailed inspection to which the strip is subjected before crimping and again before assembly, repair is effected by means of a special blowpipe after the usual cleaning and fluxing of the area affected. There is a third case of repair, however, where a small area of the block itself is damaged; and they are sending over a further sample shortly showing how this may be carried out.
