EO.6 Watford Magneto.

In reply to yours By7/H26.2.25, North & Sons Ltd. have written us regarding the proposed reduction in the amount of force necessary to operate the advance lever on their model EO.6 magnetos, that anything they can do with regard to decreasing the amount of noise caused by movement of the sleeve under armature reaction, regarding which EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} wrote on the 6th ult. (EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 6/T6.2.25 and report WA. {Mr Wallis} 108 thereto attached) will have the effect of making it necessary to apply greater force to the control lever and any increase to the amount of freedom which is now given to the sleeve would have the result of increasing the amount of noise caused by movement under armature reaction.

From this it would appear that Norths cannot carry out the wish expressed in By7/H26.2.25 without incurring the danger of an increase of noise due to armature reaction on the sleeve.

In the circumstances I think you will wish to discuss the matter with EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} , to whom I am sending copy of this note.
