With reference to Wire Wheels, a good many people seem to desire these and it seems as if we want a detachable wheel as well as a detachable rim to meet the whole wants of the people and I should suggest for light, fast cars, that the detachable wire wheel should be standardized, sticking, I think, to the Rudge-Whitworth people, as I consider this wheel is now as safe as any other. But it will be necessary for us to make some modifications so that the front wheels do not overhang the pivots a fraction more than is necessary, as we find the lubrication of the front pivots is a very difficult matter and is made considerably worse by the wire wheels if they overhang the pivots more than the wood ones, in spite of the modifications made in them by us owing to their not tracking properly with the rear wheels.

Tires.

I see many cars going through with those huge Palmer tires. I think these should be discouraged for many reasons: - their increased weight being one, as well as the bad results obtained during your Continental experience.

Some of the cars are fitted with these large tires only at the back. This is a much more satisfactory but very inconvenient arrangement.
