For the attention of Mr. N. R.{Sir Henry Royce} Chandler.

Dear Sirs,

RE:- 10" LONG C.F. CLUTCH.

We are in receipt of your letter of the 11th. instant and your remarks relative to the tool cost involved in the production of the above type clutch have been duly noted.

Would advise that we have today cabled the Long Manufacturing Company with a view to obtaining suitable quotations for the cover pressings, and upon receipt of same, shall be pleased to render our formal quotation.

Referring to the comparatively rough finish of the Long type pressure plate, mentioned in the concluding paragraph of your letter, would confirm that in our opinion, which incidentally is shared by the Borg & Beck Company of America, this type finish although not interfering with the smooth take-up qualities, definitely increases facing wear.

The reason that the Long Company do not grind the pressure plate is purely a matter of cost.

Yours faithfully,
BORG & BECK COMPANY LIMITED.
