1297 (Experimental Dept.) Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wyml/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 1st March, 1939. Messrs. Servais Silencers Ltd., Ashford Works, Ashford Road, Cricklewood, N.W.2. (For the attention of Mr. J.N. Green) Dear Sirs, We are to-day sending you some dimensional sketches of our exhaust silencers. The two silencers marked A.{Mr Adams} & B. are used in tandem, and the one marked C. is used as a single silencer only. You will note the outlet pipe on silencer B. is at the top to enable us to fit the tail pipe over the rear axle, there is no room in any other position. We are leaving the whole of the internal fittings to you, but the sizes of silencer shell, as shown, are definitely fixed and must be adhered to. The downtake pipe from manifold to silencer and intermediate pipe coupling up silencers A.{Mr Adams} & B. are 2.00" dia. As soon as you have made up any system, if you will forward same to the Experimental Dept. marked for the attention of the Writer, Mr. G.H. Whyman, he will have same fitted to a car as soon as convenient. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
