re 13 1/2" "Borglite" Plate Phantom III.
For the attention of Mr. Barker.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 10th inst. with drawing and deflection curve of the above.

We would be glad to try this out if you would care to send us one.

With regard to the curve SK.31067/4, we note the deflection with a pressure of 1530 lbs. is only .035 as compared to .055 as shown on SK.31038/4 for the Long type plate.

While this reduced deflection is all to the good from a separation point of view, we are wondering if it will have any adverse effect on the smoothness of engagement.

One manifest advantage is the considerable reduction of inertia, as almost the whole of the .063 thick driven plate is eliminated, and no mass added in its place.

It has been suggested that ultimately it might be possible to eliminate the plate together by rivetting the springs direct on to the R.R. hub?
