1345 To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AA.{D. Abbot-Anderson}5/B.9.2.40. BEDFORD TRUCKS. I am sending you herewith a catalogue showing the full range of Bedford chassis, together with a booklet - "Illustrated Facts about the New Bedford Truck Range". There is no Maintenance Chart produced for Bedford chassis. Mr. Scoones of Oscrofts tells me that until the present series of chassis, the same brake system, transmission, etc. was used on the chassis from 30 cwts. upwards, but that in the present range, heavier rear axles are fitted to the larger models. The vacuum servo-assistance brakes are fitted on 2/3 ton, 3/4 ton and 5 ton models. Reverse camber/rear springs are fitted on all chassis - 2/3 ton, 3/4 ton and 5 ton. have progressive rear springs; 5 tonners are also fitted with additional heavier duty springs. These are clearly illustrated in the booklet. All the above-mentioned items are new on the 1940 range. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AA.{D.
