We cannot understand the length of time it has taken to get 32-EX rear axle re-built. We understand that the axle was stripped down and that the parts were in Paris ready to be fitted to the axle on July 22nd. We see from your Daily Report that a week later the car is not on the road. Considering that we put in a lot of expensive overtime in order to get this car away, it is deplorable that a rear axle fault should hold it up for nearly three weeks. We always do what we can to help the Paris Depot, and we expect them to do what they can in return. If they have not the facilities for dealing with our work, it is perfectly easy for us to send a fitter over from Derby. We cannot believe, however, that on a straightforward change-over, such as axle gears, this should be necessary. We should like an explanation from you as to why this job took so long.
