COPY. S/W. (Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}). H1/LH{Mr Haworth}12.12.28. 7-EH. Captain Edward Greene. Springing complaint. You will recollect that recently the above car was fitted with a pair of specially prepared, polished and cadmium plated springs, which you sent to Cricklewood. We are reluctant to trouble you again, but we are forced to send you a copy of this owner's letter of the 9th. inst., in which he expresses his opinion of these springs and of the car's springing generally. I have discussed the matter with C. and we feel that the position should be placed before you and those technical officials at W. who attended the recent Technical Conference. This is one of the cases in which the owner complained almost immediately after the original delivery of the car of harshness. We changed his springs for lighter ones and the result was that he complained of bumping at speed. We have now fitted slightly heavier but polished and plated springs, and all we get from him is an expression that they are no better than those originally on the car. We shall be interested to hear your suggestion, but meanwhile, we shall probably send Bt.{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer} to go very closely into the matter with the Owner. He may be successful in persuading the Owner that the springing is a matter of compromise; we fear, however, that the Owner will agree and say that our compromise is not so good as the other makes of cars he mentions and has experience of!
