Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}6/WJ1224 1st February, 1924. Messrs. The Chloride Electrical Storage Co.Ltd., Clifton Junction, Nr. Manchester. Dear Sirs, Battery for our 40/50 H.P. Chassis. We duly received yours ref.- ECM/EH. of 25th ult. and immediately communicated your remarks to those concerned. In the second paragraph of your letter you quote our specification X.644 as referring to the battery for our 40/50 HP. chassis. We think you intended to quote X.664, which is the number of the specification in question. Paragraph 11 of said specification deals with terminals and connections and after consideration of your remarks and of the conversation which the subscriber had with Mr. McKinnon by 'phone this morning, we have decided to modify same and retain the heavily lead plated brass nuts making flat surface connections not only for the positive and negative terminals of the assembled battery, but also for the cell to cell connections; therefore the terminals of each individual cell will be identical and the connections from cell to cell will be same as now supplied in the case of the batteries for our 40/50 HP. chassis. We hope we have made ourselves clear with regard to this. We are sending copy of this letter to Messrs. Peto & Radford and we shall be glad if you will afford said firm any additional information they may require as to the form and dimensions of the terminals and the cell to cell connections. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. (Sgd) J.P. Whitehead. | ||
