To: Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From G.W.H. Hôtel de France, Châteauroux, Indre. 15/7/30. We dismantled the rear n/s subframe support bracket and found that it had torn away from the back plate. We have had a new back plate welded on to the bracket and refitted this. To get to the bolts holding this bracket on to the frame is almost an impossible task; box spanners could not be got on to the nuts inside the frame, because of their closeness to the bottom angle. However, after a desperate struggle we have managed to effect the repair, and the sub-frame is once more supported in position. Re water lost. Although after yesterday's experiments re water lost which we thought would be O.K., we again found during this morning's run that the same amount of water had been lost. It would appear that the shallow top tank of the radiator has a lot to do with it. There is a considerable difference with this shallow top tank in filling up with the water cold and when it gets hot. We are endeavouring to find out what the correct level is when the water is cold. We have to-day received the new radiator support fittings, also some brackets which are in a very unfinished state not being drilled or marked, which we know nothing at all about. We are endeavouring to carry out the water temperature tests with different air temperatures which we will forward on to you in due course.
