The thickened cylinder projection effected a 75% to 80% improvement on engines suffering from this particular knock which this modification was introduced to overcome, making the knock inaudible except when "listening in".
I have at the moment one engine on test that is giving trouble in this respect, but this is the only case I know of, and it is now being investigated.
