Remarks on the race. Wheel hubs. These were hopeless for racing changes. Both the splines and nuts were too good a fit. The nuts created an air cushion, which is only released via the threads. The wings were too heavy, and at rt. angles to the hub. They should have been at an angle, away from the spokes of the wheel, and as light as possible. During the race change, these nuts had tightened up approx. an eighth of a turn. The splines should also have a lead on the hub, and preferably half the number. The hubs also require a pilot to receive the nut when spinning. Tyres. Front - 5.50" Rear. - 6.00". Dunlop special racing. Showed canvas after 13 laps (155 miles). 12 tyres in all were used, the third set finished the race, with duration of 3 laps (40 miles) left. | ||
