SALES AND GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS DEPARTMENTS. DURING WAR "RUNDELLS" LATTON, near HARLOW, Essex. OUR REF M/5. YOUR REF 5th March, 1940. W.A. Robotham, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., DERBY. Dear Robotham, I hope you are going strong and have escaped 'flu and other troubles. I had a week of it but am all right now. When my car was not going too well yesterday I thought of you in your uniform at Derby with Minx gear boxes all over your desk. However, if that is the only line of Minx's you have there we can pass that! My car (1936 - 4¼) is now using a lot of oil and there seems to be very much more vibration in the engine than formerly. Its only done 36,000 miles and I can't believe that an R.R. product could want such a thing as a rebore, or bearings done up short of twice that distance. Could it? I've got to be up in the Midlands at Easter time and could go by car if necessary and bring it to be examined at Derby directly after Easter if there is anyone there who could look at it. What do you advise me to do? I have done the last 1,025 miles on 49 gallons, of petrol I mean, not oil! Yours sincerely, C.R.Minchin | ||
