[STAMP: RECEIVED 1932 JAN 14] Messrs.Rolls Royce, Ltd. DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the attention of W.A.Robotham, Esq. Re. Electric Petrol Gauges. In reply to your letter of the 12th inst., we beg to advise you that we have gone very carefully into the points you raise, and would like to draw your attention to the following remarks:- 18 Gallon Tank - Your Drawing F.58208. We very much regret it is not possible to fit an "earth return" type of gauge to this tank, as the fixing bolt passes right through the centre of the tank which, of course, prevents the float arm travelling across the tank. On the other hand, if the unit were mounted so that the float arm moved in a plane along the tank the float would foul the baffles, unless these were cut away, or the position altered. It is, however, possible to use the 3-wire tank attachment, and we enclose herewith blue print Ex.Y.6551 showing the general arrangement of this. We propose proceeding with this job immediately as we note that the gauge is urgently required. We should, however, be glad to receive your approval. 20 Gallon Tank - Your Drawing No.F.82676. As requested, we are preparing two "earth return" gauges as shown on Scheme 2, and one 3-wire type as shown on Scheme 1 of our Drawing Ex.Y.6534. C'td. | ||
