4630 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RmL/LG. 29th. Feb. 1924. The Cambridge Scientific Instr:Co., Cambridge, England. Dear Sirs, In reply to your letter of the 28th.inst. ref. MGC/MW, we do not think you quite follow the sort of a recording strip we were considering. We were using an instrument not long ago which made use of paper, one side of which had a glossy surface and upon which the ink record was made, and the other side was rough and absorbent, in fact, it would almost act as blotting paper. We do not know if it is easy to obtain such paper, but it seems to us it would be far the simplest method of solving the problem of rolling up the record strip without smudging. We think we shall certainly have to have a second roller if the value of the instrument is to be fully realised. Yours faithfully, | ||
