We therefore do not understand their saying that there is a difficulty in connection with this board and that it will not be suitable for an earthed return system. We think it would be advisable for them to send along a sample of this board as it is thought that it will be so readily modified to suit our case. Perhaps, therefore, Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} will kindly arrange for this. As in the Lucas case a photostat copy of a rough diagram of the connections proposed will be issued. In the Lucas case, owing to the cutout having virtually four terminals, the automatic switching takes place on the live side and the negative terminal of the dynamo itself will be earthed to the frame as shown. In the C.A.V. case, however, using a Bleriot cutout, the system will be as arranged for the R.R. Goshawk, namely, the automatic switching will take place between the negative of the dynamo and the chassis frame, and therefore the dynamo will be entirely insulated. In each case, however, it is better, as already arranged, to order the dynamos as insulated machines so that either can be used either way, in case it is necessary to change from one make of machine to another on any particular chassis. Wiring. We take it that some system of wiring will be arranged mechanically by the D.O. in accordance with the diagram which we are issuing, and as already stated, we have a quantity of wire obtained in connection with the previous R.R. earthed wiring system, of three sizes, viz: | ||
