Sgll/EL.2.34 Referring to my Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}7/E.1.1.34 and the remarks in the latter part re 8-cylinder engine for 20/25 replacement, I omitted to mention that nothing I said therein was intended to alter the present programme of introducing the present 20/25 engine in a J.III frame as soon as we can. I am assuming of course that it is quite hopeless to expect that we could have an 8-cylinder engine in time, but having got that type of car going, we could later introduce the 8-cylinder engine. I expect to be told that an 8-cylinder will not make such a good car as a 12-cylinder but I do not want to go to a 12-cylinder for this car, and as the result of trying the Terraplane and the Ford-8, I am satisfied that an 8-cylinder 20/25 type of car would make a very good car. The only objectionable feature one can find about the Terraplane engine is its external appearance and if a similar engine is made on RR.lines I am sure it will be even better than the Terraplane. I suppose we have had this engine all down and taken all the information we want? Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
