Dear Sirs,

Tests for 2 Series Falcon Engines.
-----------------------------

I beg to confirm the acceptance test for series 2 Falcon engines, as arranged with yourselves and a representative of the Controller of the Technical Department.

"Engines will be required to run at full power for a period of 5 minutes at 2000 r.p.m. and a further period of 3 hours at 225 H.P. at 2000 r.p.m. plus or minus 5% of r.p.m.

At the end of this 3 hour run another short duration test of 5 minutes at 97% of the power developed during the first full power test will be required.

During the 3 hour run the drop in power without alteration to the throttle, must not be greater than 5%. The engine will then be dismantled, cleaned and inspected.

After re-erection it will be required to run at 90% full power for a period of ½ hour, the first five minutes of which it will be required to develop the same H.P. as that developed during the first full power test at 2000 r.p.m. plus or minus 3%. A power curve should then be taken. The record on the name plate will be as follows:-

(1) Type - 2 Falcon 1, etc.
(2) B.H.P. - Actual power developed during the 5 minutes full power test at 2000 r.p.m. will be recorded.
(3) Fuel test - Actual fuel consumption recorded during 5 minutes full power test at 2000 r.p.m.
(4) Oil consumption as recorded on 3 hour test."

Yours faithfully,

(Sgd) R.H.Verney, Capt.C.I.E.
for Director of Inspection.
