SECRET. Y8770 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from BJ. Copies to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Re 93-NK. Thank you for Hsl/LG17.12.24. There are certain parts on 93-NK which will be retained in "V" series. We do not wish alterations to be made in those parts unless a standardisation sheet goes through. We tried 93-NK with a view to approving the new E.A.C. car. Now we have approved it with the exception of the twelve items mentioned by you, we do not want alterations to be made to it without a standardisation sheet. When the actual "V" series car has been prepared for 10,000 miles, we should like to try it, to ascertain whether the twelve points mentioned by you are satisfactory, and that the whole car is still satisfactory. Please do not trouble to send a car to Gerrards Cross on the 23rd December, as we should prefer not to complicate matters, but would sooner wait for the final "V" series car which is going to be tested for 10,000 miles and which will be actually like the cars which are going to be produced. C.J. would also like to try this final car, as we feel it is no use it starting for 10,000 miles test unless we are satisfied that it is a satisfactory car if it gets through the 10,000 miles test alright. As it is likely that this final car will not leave for France before the 6th or 7th January, it seems probable I shall be able to try it in England. In any case, do not let this affect the car going to France at the earliest possible date, as I will make arrangements to try it in France if it has left England before the 7th. B.J. | ||
