Requesting a test to determine the torque required to cause a water pump coupling spider to slip on a shaft.

We wish to settle whether it is practicable to fix the water pump coupling spider (Ex.27891) to the drive shaft to Ex.27888-90 by either -

(a) a simple interference fit (.003 to start with)
or (b) a simple interference fit and with a taper pin as at present indicated on above drawings.

We hand you herewith a drive shaft built up with two couplings, one being pinned, the other not.

Will you please measure the necessary torque and cause the spider to slip on the shaft with and without the pin.
