R.R. 493A (50 M) (D.D. 91, 12-6-25) J.H.D. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. +8420 REF: Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 2/LG9.12.25 1/2 To Hm. {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} from Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to EY. 20 HP. BRAKE BRACKETS. X8420 X8330 Hmll/W3.12.25. It is very difficult to see how the brake brackets could be bent by normal application of the brakes. We have never had a case of the brake brackets failing, and if they were at all weak, this fault should have shewn up since we have added the servo. The car complained of was the foot-operated brake. We understand that the failure occurred on a car which was run on low gear with brakes full on. We do not think this can be looked upon as a normal condition. The brake brackets are designed to take full braking loads; they are not expected to stand up against engine torques as well. It is possible the brackets may have been bent by the car being accidently jacked up on the brake operating shaft. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
