DE LUXE MODEL S.W.R. TYPE WIPER.

It is proposed here to supply the R.W. type of motor and also the R.W. type of gear box built into the fixing bracket. This motor would give approximately twice as much power as the C.W., is essentially a quieter motor than the C.W., is free from dead starting positions and in general has a longer life on endurance.

A new type of arm is to be in-troduced with a smoother exterior and higher pressure on the rubbers. The latter will be slightly thicker to avoid distortion when parked.

Points to be observed when introducing the S.W. wiper to Car manufacturers.

(1). The motor may either be clamped direct to the gear box or may be mounted in any position to the rear of the gear box provided the driving spindles of motor and gear box are not appreciably out of line. In either arr-angement a flexible coupling is used. If the motor is mounted separately, it must be insulated with rubber from the cross member to which it is attached.

(2). The motor is arranged to be detachable from the fixing bracket, so that care should be taken that there is sufficient room for this to be done without disturbing the bracket; it should never be necessary to remove the latter.

(3). An adjustment for taking up back-lash is provided in the chain run; this should, therefore, be covered by a screen rail capping which is readily detachable.

(4). There must be room between screen and scuttle (approx. ½" is required) to allow the blades to park clear of the screen in order that the latter may be opened.

(5). No part of the motor or bracket must touch any part of the car, as the effect of the rubber insulation would be thereby nullified.
