EFC X87830 Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}/McMS/T18.5.27 re EFC1/T16.5.27 (a) We have had a large number of cases where the lever has seized on the pivot during test. This was due to oxydization, and was overcome by cleaning and coating with lanoline. Now that chassis are coming on test with the pivot and bush already coated with lanoline, we do not have any trouble. (b) We have had no cases of spring breakage, except in one instance where the spring has broken in removing a seized pivot, but we feel this was really owing to a faulty spring.
