The over-stressing of driving springs in a lower inertia spring drive design.

We are considering standardising the lower inertia spring drive to drawing LEC 2462 and 2526 on the S.S.

The only outstanding difficulty with this design is that the driving springs E76636 appear to be over-stressed.

It is essential that we should not reduce the poundage of these springs or the drive comes up against the stops with a metallic clank.

Will you please (1) See if any better design of spring can be produced to meet our difficulty. (2) See if the springs we are already using are in the best possible material.
