X484 To EY. from HDY.{William Hardy} c.c. Mr. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FHC. HDY.{William Hardy}4/HP.15.11.34. Propeller Shaft with Layrub Joint. Bentley. We should have remarked in our Hdy.{William Hardy}2/HP.15.11.34, that as the gearbox has rubber mounting there will not be any limitation, which will matter, to the amount that the flange bolts can be pushed forward to obtain clearance for assembling the shaft except, perhaps, that caused by a back plate. If a back plate is fitted it must be moved forward so that the ends of the bolts come flush with the end of the 3rd motion shaft when the heads of the bolts are against the plate.
