BODIES FOR BENSPORT. B.4.

We send herewith N.Sch.3685 & N.Sch.3686, shewing the revised Four Door Sports Saloon for the Bensport to suit the chassis which it has been agreed to standardise.
Due to the lengthening of the steering column by approx.2.500ins. to the dimensions given on these drawings the whole of the front of the body has had to be moved back about 2.000ins. We have regained this loss of room in the rear compartment by thinning the squabs of the front sliding seats, by moving back the squab board of the rear seat and by thinning the rear squab.
We have restored the wells for the feet of the rear passengers to their original dimensions approximately by a modification to the brake linkages, the latest edition of which is being worked out by "B".
On N.Sch.3685. we give the dimensions to the bottom of the well and it will be necessary for "B" to tell us if he can work to these in the course of the next few days as we have two bodies in hand for delivery in four weeks. We would point out that we shall have great difficulties to overcome if we do have to reduce the legroom of the rear seat even by .500ins. as even now it is not sufficient to meet with the requirements of Sales. The only way out would be an increase in the wheelbase, which is not to be desired at this juncture.
We are fitting the flared wings (I8,EX Type) to this car.
If time will permit we are going to have the body sprayed inside with Limpet, the manufacturers having offered to do this free of charge. We shall try to use the thinnest coat possible as we fear that the body weight may be seriously increased.
We have asked that this body shall be ready for mounting on March 18th.
Will you please send us two prints of each drawing and return to us the originals.
