To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re P.III Valve Gear. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}11/E12.1.37
Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}E.Bl.

I am in receipt of Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/R.11.1.37. I quite agree the recommendation made provided the others concerned agree.

This modification, I understand, will overcome top over-oiling but it does not of course deal with the excessive oil consumption complaint xxx about which I wrote to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} separately the other day.

We will discuss this latter point at Derby next week and I hope suggestions for overcoming it will be available.

We must also discuss at the same time the question of whether the modifications set out in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swd11/R.11.1.37 should not be made the subject of a Depot Instruction Sheet.
