Herewith is N. sch. 3631. - scaled down steering column in position in the frame as we think it should be arranged.

Our original intention was that the centreline of the scaled down column should coincide with that of the original steering column, but on L&C.3329. and F.100763, the line of the column has been made lower than this, principally, as far as we can see, to clear the carburetter. N. sch. 3631 is therefore a compromise, in which we have kept the lower edge of the scaled down column the same as that of the original column, so avoiding interference with the pedals, maintaining a gastight joint at the floorboards, and still giving a minimum of .225 clearance between the column and carburetter.

It will be noticed that we have retained the 9.187 dimension from the centreline of the column to the centreline of the chassis.

If Derby can see any objection to any of these proposals would they please let us know by telegraph on Monday.
