| LID{A. J. Lidsey} X5830. SECRET. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. De. P. (struck through) By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/HP.8.4.32. Body - 1.J.3. The following features have yet to be attended to on the 1.J.3. car. 1. The rear body brackets foul the tyres on full roll - they should be cut back .250". 2. The rear apron and grid have to be fitted. If the car has to be used for some while before this is available we suggest that a plain apron be made up temporarily. (Handwritten note: Plain apron being made) 3. Tail lamp - We are sending you a design for a new combined rear and stop lamp. In the meantime we suggest that you may fit up Lucas tubular lamp T.201. (Handwritten note: ordered) 4. The side lever - (gear lever) needs modifying eventually. For particulars see BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} 5. We suggest that the dumb iron pads be rounded at the edges in all views. Now they have sharp corners at the sides. 6. The first step iron is too far forward, and these may be corrected by either bending or packing out. In future the step will be approx. 5.500 further aft. 7. The turn under edge of the bonnet should not exist above any of the edge which is below the level of the chassis, as this will be cut off when the coachbuilder cuts the bonnet to follow the curve of the wing.
