Programme for Investigating Wheel
Flutter on E.III Bumper Chassis.

(1) Compare flexibility of the steering mechanism with Packard.
(2) Put chassis on variable speed bumper rig.
(3) 8" initial deflection front springs.
(4) Harrison & Jelly (of Silentblocs) to come to Derby to discuss rubber bushes.
(5) Effect of end location washers for the top yoke bearing on both sides of the chassis.
(6) Check Actual castor and transverse pivot leans on chassis.
(7) Variation in tyre pressure 15-50 lbs.
(8) Disconnect side steering tube.
(9) Try hair pin between pendulum lever and side steering tube so that flexibility can be tuned.
(10) Test increased inertia on the chassis by attaching dumb bell to the frame.

------------

Besides optical comparisons for each test, measurements should be taken for any appreciable change in wheel flutter -

(a) relative pivot movement between stub axle and yoke.

(b) End movement between top yoke bearing and the triangular levers.
