Mr. Barrington. 23/12/12.
[STAMP] RECEIVED 24 DEC 1912
Mr. Royce is very anxious that we should obtain forgings of the new centre box of the new back axle, and that we shall not use castings.
He wants the new-axle box and the new axle subjected immediately to a series of breaking tests similar to the breaking tests used in connection with the old axle. It was with a view to testing the new axle that he devised the tackle.
We must get rid of the jaggering brakes, that is to say, we must not construct any chassis with jaggering brakes because jaggering brakes are the cause of fractures.
C.J.
