LIGHTER AND SIMPLIFIED PHANTOM X.3770 X.5770
ENGINE FOR SPORTS, AND EAGLE. X.7770 X.5010

We are sending you within the next few days most of the drgs. for lightening and simplifying the Phantom engine.

We have found it impossible to do this in half measures, and shall be pleased if you will at once get a move on in detailing the parts and making them experimentally.

We have spent an enormous amount of time on this, and we cannot help believing that you will be very pleased with the modifications, which we think will enable you to get a satisfactory engine for less money.

INDIA 3. X.5770

We hope you are making some progress with the frame for this experimental chassis.

We have also sent you the engine crankshaft which is arranged so as to make no alteration to the conn. rods but to increase the stiffness, as in our last attempt, by making the bearings larger in dia., but also slightly longer, so as to get a better oil seal, by altering the form and proportion of the webs.

The spring drive is also altered to the G.1. scheme which latter will be sent tomorrow.

We are therefore arranging that both of our chassis engines shall have a higher max. speed, with slightly better fill up, permitting better performance.

R.{Sir Henry Royce}
