GIRLING BRAKES.

With further reference to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/R.20.4.38, wherein it is stated that experimentally, Standardisation of Girling Brakes is considered desirable to obtain more experience on the second 100 in 'M' Series in spite of the fact that such parts will not be wholly interchangeable with B.lll.

It would seem in the first place doubtful policy to utilise customers for proving the reliability of new type brakes with the risk of increasing Policy Charges and other expenditure if trouble arises.

In view of the fact that only one B.ll.A. Chassis which has run 15,000 miles has been fitted with Girling Brakes, and in view of the limited experience with the one Chassis, further experimental experience is desirable in order to prove the reliability and in order to obtain such experience would it not be preferable to fit a number of sets on Bentley Trials cars for further experience instead of premature introduction on Bentley Production Chassis.

The Brake material sets required would be made by hand or on an experimental basis except where components are common to the ultimate design for B.lll, in which case final tools would be produced.
