Dear Cy.

We notice in Automotive Industries of June 30th that Packards have adopted a harmonic stabiliser in order to get rid of fender shake. Naturally we are grieved to think that you did not warn us of this device as we expect you have been testing one on your General Motors proving ground. We should, however, like to know whether it is any good and how many pounds it adds to the weight of the car. It does shew what a serious thing fender shake must be on some American cars if they go to the extent of putting lumps of lead on the ends of their bumpers.

With regard to the dashpot type of synchro mesh that Packards have adopted, we should be interested to know whether this gives a better result than the standard Buick scheme and whether you recommend that we should adopt such a scheme.

Yours sincerely,
