DERBY.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

I thank you for your letter to hand this morning, and would explain that generally speaking our throttle bores are 1/8" smaller than the piston diameter. The two 1 3/4" carburetters originally tested on your engine are the only exception to this ruling.

The two 1 1/2" Carburetters forwarded to you although they have 1 1/2" throttle bores are actually 1 3/4" Carburetters, and only 1/8" smaller in diameter than the original 1 3/4" tested. We have never yet found that the throttle bore itself being 1/8" smaller than the piston diameter affected the power, so that you will in all probability find this to be the case in the two carburetters forwarded to you. Anyway, although there is very little metal left we are trying to bore out a couple of these instruments to 1 5/8" throttle bore and will let you have them to test out, although if they fall to pieces in the course of running you will know the reason.

Kind regards.

Yours sincerely,

TCSkinner
