G.W.Hancock, Hotel De France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. From HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}2/MA. 21.7.32. We thank you for your letter 19.7.32., and note your remarks about the timing. We shall be interested to know what alteration in maximum speed you get with the original timing. We shall also be interested to have any consumption figures you can get with the 850, 900, and 950 needle. We know that we get the best acceleration with the 850 needle, but it is not much good running endurance tests with the 900 needle to get good consumptions if it will not accelerate. If the 850 needle gives bad consumptions, then more work is required on the carburetter to get good accelerations and good consumptions with the same needle. We shall be glad to know the state of the various troubles that you have reported when you hand the car over to Mr. Northe i.e. how far you have been able to improve them before the end of the 10,000 miles test.
