CHILDS - see me To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} BY/RD.1/B.27.10.38. ELECTRIC CLOCKS. 6026. Mr. Arrowsmith of The A.T. Speedometer Co., called here yesterday to discuss queries relative to the production of the Impulse Type Electric Clock. Firstly, they are proceeding with 100 of these clocks since their Mr. Nichols has assumed from his recent visit here that we are satisfied with the clock, and secondly, they are getting short of material to manufacture further supplies of the Empire Clock, and do not wish to purchase more in view of our proposal to change. To put the matter all in order, would Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} please issue a Standardisation Sheet if he is now entirely satisfied with the Clocks on test? Thirdly, they suggest that we should share with them the approx: £200 tool charges for this clock, which comprises a Die Cast Case, Front Bezel, etc. To this I did not agree and suggested that the matter be further examined with a view to using one of the pressed metal cases made by Smiths, now being used for the combined oil gauge and thermometer, since these Impulse Clocks will easily fit into a 52 m/m case. There is no reason to produce a large case similar to the Empire Clock with a view to obtaining interchangeability. The interchangeability can be obtained by making a suitable securing flange, the tool cost of which should only be a few pounds. The matter is therefore left for them to further examine the position, and when they have finally decided, it is thought that the tool cost will be so small that they will not require any assistance from us. -Contd- | ||
