( 5 ) HEATING OF FRONT SEATS Cont. The Committee agreed that Mr. Spinney should go into a design such as he described. 91st Meeting, Dec.1st,1911. Re Floor Boards. In reply to Mr. Johnson's note CJ5/T301011, that we fit gas tight floor boards over the whole length of the chassis, Mr. Spinney had reported that this was impracticable, but he advised the Committee that after writing this report he had understood Mr. Johnson to refer to standard floorboards. The Committee agreed that Mr. Spinney should go into the matter according to Mr. Johnson's note. Mr. Spinney advised the Committee that he had rigged up our double floorboard, but with unsatisfactory results. The slots cut in the floorboard for the pedals rendered it very difficult to make this scheme work. He also advised the Committee that the experimental department had rigged up a temporary arrangement whereby the hot air from under the bonnet was allowed to escape. This would be tested next week, and would be reported at a later meeting. Mr. Johnson said : "This is what I meant. Why impracticable. The coachbuilders do it, but do it badly. Why should we not do it and do it well - i.e. gas tightly." | ||
