Unfortunately the four other pistons in the set which were undamaged were scrapped in order to make careful comparisons of the metallurgical condition of the unbroken as compared with the broken pistons. If it should happen that we have a similar failure in the near future, we think it will be desirable to run the rest of the pistons from such an engine on a bed under accurately specified conditions for power and speed.
