Owing to the small width of this disc, the out of running-balance factor would be extremely small and practically negligible. The coronation rattles with this scheme were exactly the same as far as could be determined as with the standard brake drum corrected for standing balance.

(S) This experiment I believe has an important bearing on the suggested theory, providing it is assumed that the out of running-balance couple with constant velocity with this disc was negligible.

What we meant to convey by my previous note is explained by the above sketch suggested by Mr Royce. This will be in perfect balance as long as it runs at a uniform speed but if the speed changes it will be seen that the force necessary to alter the speed of both pieces is not the same. OH
