D.W.S. PERMANENT JACKS.

We have used a set of D.W.S. Jacks on 19-EX. and they have run 20,000 miles, the majority of the mileage having been covered in France.

There is no question that the jacks are a good job and very much easier to operate than the usual Dunlop Jack.

The failings of the set as fitted to 19-EX. were that they were damaged and one was lost because they were mounted to close to the ground and that the cases were damaged badly by flying stones.

We have had Mr. Donald Sessions (the inventor and managing director of the concern), to examine them and he is sending us shortly a modified set which will overcome these troubles. They will be mounted in a higher position on the car and will have very much stronger and improved casings. In addition the available lift will be increased to compensate for mounting them further from the ground. In this way their only failings will be overcome.

It has not been possible to find a condition where the D.W.S. jack will fail to operate, either on 19-EX., on Mr. Pass car which used them during the Alpine Trials test run or on another of our experimental cars in Derby. Even after they have been damaged by contact with the road the Jacks still operated successfully.

The D.W.S. people have worked very hard and successfully to overcome various deficiencies which we pointed out to them when we received the original set, with the result that the present model is a really good job and in no way can it be said to be a fitting which is not in keeping with our cars.
