To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copy to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} X1138 Bowering E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/MN.15.1.36. File Bentley Petrol Filter on Second Cross Member. When the petrol filter on the second cross member becomes standard, it will be necessary to show this on the chassis print, and to draw the Coachbuilders' attention to it by a note to the effect that access to the filter must be provided from above, to enable it to be cleaned, and we suggest that the note should further ask that a shield should be provided brought down from the coachwork to prevent the filter, not only against flying stones, but to protect it becoming coated in mud, so that when the time of cleaning arrives the filter will not be too dirty to handle, and there will not be great risk of dirt getting into this filter while the unit is being cleaned.
