R.R. 235A (150 n) (XX. 140. 18.7.13) E.P. 4635. Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/SM36/L27813. Re Bonnet.- Test whether louvres are necessary. X.55 Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} 27-8-13. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} The following is an extract from Na.{Mr Nadin}c Mr Royce's memo R3/P21813 :- "My impression is that louvres should not "be fitted to English cars, but only "to those for very hot climates. "I would rather make the large fan "universal, and it will be necessary to "cut away as much as possible of the dash "under the floorboards, both in width "and height to permit of the air getting "away under the car. "This has also been facilitated by "the opening in the undersheet behind "the flywheel, and by the removal of the "central brake drum, which leaves a much "better way under the car. "The temperature of the floorboards "is not materially increased by the "quantity of air passing under, but rather, "we have always found it to decrease "as the air is cooler. p.
