To Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. c. to Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} (11/H Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.8/AP.4.1.38 In view of the number of recent failures with Ph.III. old type oil coolers on A.{Mr Adams} & B. series cars, we are anxious that the change-over to the latest F.{Mr Friese} type cooler should be carried out with a minimum of delay. We believe that the limiting factor under the present arrangement of changing oil coolers as cars come into Depots is the supply of replacement oil coolers available. We are, however, negotiating with the makers for a larger supply of replacement coolers and if the supply which we can get is sufficiently in excess of the number of cars available at Depots for change-over, we shall recommend changing coolers wherever the chassis may be so as to minimise the number of further failures. Will Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} therefore, please ascertain and inform us as soon as possible as to the average weekly number of oil coolers which can be changed as cars come into Depots - as soon as we have this figure and Marstons promise for improved supplies we can issue further instructions Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. | ||
