x.4340 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X 3470 X 4340 RE. BONNET. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG5.4.21. We cannot see why there should be any difficulty in fixing the Ferodo to the Bonnet. I assumed that the design D.O. would have come and examined the bonnets which had been fitted with this material and had been running about on cars. At the time we rivetted the material to the bonnet, we pointed out that it was only a compromise. The best method was to lace it to the bonnet supports, but as we thought this would take such an hopelessly long time to get through, we considered that it was worth while temporarily to go on with the Ferodo rivetted to the bonnet. All the cars being turned out at the Springfield Factory have the Ferodo laced to the bonnet strips by the ordinary orthodox method - they, of course, still retain the brass strips on the bonnet.
