The Autovac Co.,
Heaton Norris,
Stockport.

Dear Sirs,

As you are aware, we are contemplating operating our Autovac by means of a small suction pump driven off the engine in place of the usual connection in the manifold.

This means that we shall require Autovacs to give a more consistent delivery in the future, and that this delivery must not sink below a certain limit. We are therefore proposing to institute a production test for Autovacs and if they do not come up to the required standard they will be returned to you for examination.

We find that we can increase the delivery of our standard Autovac by over 10% if we increase the float weight from 73 gramms to 139 gramms.

We should like to know whether there is any reason why we should not have a heavier float. We realize that it will not be so self emptying in the case of a puncture but we do not regard this as being serious.

We also find that we can increase the delivery by about 10% if we increase the volume of the Autovac float chamber by 45%.

We should like to have your views on these modifications.

Yours faithfully,

For Rolls-Royce Ltd.
