| To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/MJ.28.2.33. Re. BENSPORT & 25 HP. GEARBOX. Replying to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}1/E.27.2.33. I realised, and I believe most of the others at the conference in Derby on January 12th. realised, that we had had no test on the standard 20/25 HP. gearbox with the silent second speed. The Standardisation Sheet which we sent out on 3.2.33 states that the gearbox will have run 10,000 miles before any cars are delivered to customers. I thought it was realised that we were taking a risk both on the silent second speed, new type dampers, front axle control for the 25HP., and air silencer to the carburetter. The reason we were taking this risk was so as to get these improvements on the cars in time for the next Olympia Show. At the present time we are satisfied with the progress of the tests on these parts and we expect in about two or three weeks we shall be able to let you try the improved 25 HP. fitted with - (1) New dampers. (2) Quiet second speed. (3) Carburetter silencer. (4) Front axle control. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
